The Culture Language Arts Network and other Minneapolis American Indian Center programs are hosting our annual American Indian Kick-off Month Powwow and Open House. The event is free and open to people of all ages.
Agenda:
4:00 – 6:00 p.m.: Food will be available from Gatherings Cafe and local food trucks
6:00 – 9:00 p.m.: Powwow in the Frances Fairbanks Memorial Gymnasium
6:00 p.m.: Grand Entry
There will be information on the Minneapolis American Indian Center’s programs and history.
Merch vendors will also be selling Indigenous-made crafts and goods. Vendor applications are closed.
Gatherings Cafe: Open 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Concessions hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of MAIC youth and MAIC Elders: 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Limited meal tickets will be available on the first come, first serve basis.
Public Transit:
Metro Transit is providing free rides to people attending the powwow. Click the image below to claim your free ticket. (Up to $1,000 worth of rides is available.) The Minneapolis American Indian Center has numerous transit stops nearby. Parking is limited, so carpooling and public transit is encouraged. Plan your route here.
Parking:
There will be food trucks in part of the Minneapolis American Indian Center’s parking lot. Limited parking is available in the center’s lot (Elder priority). Parking is also available on 19th Street behind the center and at the Fond du Lac Mashkiki Waakaaigan Pharmacy.
