Rent a space in the Minneapolis American Indian Center

The Minneapolis American Indian Center has a variety of spaces available for individuals and organizations to rent for conferences, meetings, powwows, and other events. Rates vary depending on length of time, security, and whether the event occurs during business hours. Please scroll below to view the spaces available for short-term use. We are happy to work with you to make the space fit your needs. 

To inquire about renting a space in the Minneapolis American Indian Center, please fill out the inquiry form. We will get back to you about availability and next steps. Requests must be made at least two weeks in advance of an event. Payment can be accepted by credit card or check.

Frances Fairbanks Memorial Gymnasium

Description: The gymnasium recently underwent a massive renovation that includes a new floor, state-of-the-art sound system, and a beautiful mural. The gym is a great space for powwows, rallies, and other large events.

Capacity: 150 with tables and chairs, 1,400 for standing room
Business Hours Rate (8 a.m. – 5 p.m. M-F): $150 per hour
Weekend, Evening Rate: $200 per hour, plus security fees (see below)
Refundable Deposit: $500

  • Stage available upon request.

  • Tables and chairs available upon request.
  • AV system available upon request. The system includes wireless handheld microphones and mobile microphones. The system can be accessed through a laptop or sound board using a wireless or HDMI connection. 
  • Security is required for evening and weekend events. The center provides a security official for $25/hour, which must be paid in cash at the event. Additional security may be required for large events.

Nibi Hall

Description: A large event and dining space that overlooks the Frances Fairbanks Memorial Gymnasium. The room is set up with 12 tables and 40 chairs, but renters can reconfigure the tables and chairs to fit their needs. A fully equipped, licensed kitchen is connected to Nibi Hall and available to use for an additional fee. Capacity: 40 people
Business Hours Rate (8 a.m. – 5 p.m. M-F): $50 per hour
Weekend, Evening Rate: $75 per hour, plus security fees (see below)
Refundable Deposit: $200

  • There is a large television in the space that can be connected to a laptop using a wireless or HDMI connection.
  • Full-service, licensed kitchen available for an additional rate.

Kitchen

Description: The kitchen is inside Nibi Hall. It can be added to any space rental for an additional $100 per hour. It is a licensed, fully equipped kitchen. Please note, we do not provide any cooking pots, pans, and utensils at this time.

  • Fully equipped, licensed kitchen.
  • Cannot be booked alone, must be booked with a space rental.
  • The space must be cleaned after use.

Grandparents Conference Room

Description: The Grandparents Room is a spacious conference room with a state-of-the-art sound system that includes ceiling microphones and speakers. There is also a nine-television screen at the front of the room that can be used for presentations, video sharing, hybrid meetings, and other needs. The AV system can be accessed with a laptop or phone using a wireless or HDMI connection.

Capacity: 72 with tables and chairs. 125 with seating
Business Hours Rate: $100 per hour
Weekend, Evening Rate: $150 per hour, plus security (see information below)

Additional Information:

  • The room is set up classroom style by default. It must be put back in classroom style after an event if the organizer rearranges the space.
  • The AV system is available upon request. The system includes wireless microphones, mobile microphones, and built-in ceiling microphones and speakers. The system can be accessed through a laptop or sound board using a wireless or HDMI connection. 
  • Security is required for evening and weekend events. The center provides a security official for $25/hour, which must be paid in cash at the event.

Wild Rice Meeting Room

Description: A renovated meeting room equipped with a large table and seating. The space includes bright natural light, high ceilings, and exposed beams. The room is located on the second floor of the center.

Yarrow Meeting Room

Description: A state-of-the-art conference room equipped with a large screen and Zoom hosting capabilities. The screen has a microphone and speakers that make hybrid meetings simple and accessible. There is a large U-shaped conference table in the room, and benches against the walls provide additional seating.

  • The room screen is automatically connected to Zoom and allows users to host a meeting from the room without using a computer.  
  • The room includes a U-shaped conference table with seating for 11 people. Benches against the walls provide additional seating.

Gatherings Cafe, an Indigenous restaurant focused on providing accessible healthy food, is available to cater events at the center. Please contact the cafe staff at gatheringscafe@maicnet.org to inquire about having healthy Indigenous food at your event.
