Social Media Policy

The Minneapolis American Indian Center maintains and moderates social media accounts to share information with community members, clients, funders, partners, and the general public. As a community organization, we encourage engagement with our content. Participation with social media content, including sharing posts, posing insights and questions, and contributing stories help us reach more people and build stronger community and cultural connections.

Our social media pages are considered a moderated discussion and not a public forum. In an effort to create a safe welcoming space for all our relatives, we reserve the right to hide or delete comments as well as block users who engage in:

  • Profanity or hate speech.
  • Personal attacks of any kind.
  • Advertisements or solicitation.
  • Promotion of illegal activity.
  • Persistent trolling, flaming behaviors, or other comments made with the intention to provoke an argument.
  • Spam or botting, such as posting fake powwow vendor applications.

The Minneapolis American Indian Center may also block users and delete comments if online criticism persists following efforts to engage a user(s) in constructive dialogue through direct message, email, phone calls, or other offline spaces. If a user refuses to engage with us in those spaces, the Minneapolis American Indian Center may choose to block the user.

Comments are welcome at any time, but our social pages are typically monitored only during standard business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
