• Woodlands Peoples. These artists create work that reveals how the changing seasons inform their art – art that expresses the wide spectrum of Woodland culture.
• For Woodlands Peoples the changing of the seasons traditionally deepens their connections to the land. Each new season brings transitions in all aspects of tribal life. From the harshness of winter to the warmth of summer, tribal communities of the Ojibwe, Eastern Dakota and Oneida are in continual cultural motion. The seasons are a vital source of cultural renewal for these tribal communities. Through ceremonies and gatherings, tribes strengthen their spiritual ties to the land.
• This exhibition was assembled by co-curators Janeen Antoine, American Indian Contemporary Arts and Juanita Espinosa, Native Arts Circle.
